How is our Provence trip related to the latest embroidery file?

Please find below a short summary of our recent trip to Provence in Southern France. Apart from the great impressions we got there the trip also inspired some new embroidery files to come. Even when the report is in German you can have a look at the pictures we took to understand what made us happy …

Der Stickbär has 10th Birthday

Already some time I did machine embroidery and created my own designs and digitized them. So my family and I decided to make a profession our of the hobby. The name Stickbaer, what means embroidery bear, came from my husband, who is my bear.

And since we, as a family are doing all things together we decided to run a family business in a little shop.

I am doing the creative part. I am creating the embroidery files by myself, most of the underlying sketches are done by me. All motifs will be embroidered. All photographs are shot by me.

The other, administrative part is done by my husband: the platform, functionality, the Big picture!

Tatjana is embroidering, Bär is doing care = Stickbär.

And so the Stickbaer was founded on April 7th 2007.

Now it was official and we started to sell my creations. I was happy about each single order.

And we added and added new collections. Not only applique, cross stitch and embroidery, we also started to In-The-Hoop projects and are happy to bring new techniques to our community.

Today we offer not less then 600 different collections, most of them in variations to you.

I want to thank you, dear readers and friends. I met so many lovely people, I am receiving so many friendly mails and comments that I cannot count.

To thank you all we have here the Stickbaer as Easter egg Bear.

The embroidery file for the 10x10cm hoop is done as applique. You can download it in various formats here:

Stickbaer-10-Anniversary-Freebie

Follow the steps below to embroider your bear:

Hoop the fabric very taut together with the stabilizer. Make sure that the hooped fabric does not have any wrinkles or is hooped loosely.

First we will embroider the baer, then the egg applique.

The machine will embroider a placement shape for the fabric placement of the applique.

Place the fabric over the outline and let the machine sew it onto the background fabric.

Remove the frame from the machine but not the project from the frame and trim the applique fabric back close to the stitches.

First, the machine will fixate the fabrics again with a zig- zag stitch and then with the satin stitch.

At the very end, the machine will embroider the last details of the design.

That’s it, your bear is done.

Enjoy your new motive.

Liebe Grüße

Cross stitch – Like handmade

Oh, I love cross stitch.

They remember me of the past, the real past, when I was not yet born.

They are so nostalgic. Sometimes I even do cross stitch embroidery by hand. But most of the time I am too impatient.

How about you? Do you want to create “handmade” embroidery without spending so much time?

Maybe this is the right collection for you?

I put together for you 18 wonderful nostalgic and christmas motifs in cross stitch for 10x10cm and 13x18cm hoops. nl-vintage-crossstitch

And as an on-top 2 bonus files for the jumbo hoop.jumbo

Last week I gave another embroidery software course at  Stoffekontor in Leipzig (we had a lot of fun with the 12 participants) and there I found the right basis for my cross stitch project “Vintage Cross Stitch”: linen band.

They are perfect for this kind of embroidery. stickbaer-vintrage-crossstitch-tati-1

I simply embroidered the big heart onto the ends of the band …stickbaer-vintrage-crossstitch-tati-2

… and draped the band to a ribbon and put a tiny red-white checkered band on it.

A little red bell completes the work.stickbaer-vintrage-crossstitch-tati-3

And, does this look as made by hand? It took the machine only 6 minutes for one heart!

stickbaer-vintrage-crossstitch-tati-4

What shall I do with the time I get? Yes, embroider all the other lovely motifs 🙂

The whole 18+2 collection “Vintage Cross Stitch” is available today in our Stickbaer Shop.

Vintage Cross Stitch Bags ITH

Christmas not only is a traditional event for many people but also an event where we give presents to our beloved. We wrap the gifts in colorful paper and ribbons and place them under the christmas tree.

And when the christmas eve or morning is over there is left only a pile of paper, that we stow into the paper recycling.

That’s why I try to use reusable gift wrapping. Not only our advent calendars is reused year after year. Also other gift wrapping is timeless. Like textile bags. They are useful and care for the environment.

And they are top … when they have embroidery on them.

To give you the chance to save the earth 😉 we put together a little file collection for embroidered cross stitch bags.stickbaer-vintage-crossstitchbags-tati-2 stickbaer-vintage-crossstitchbags-tati-3

Each of the bags is about 13x18cm so it can hold something.

Not all presents have to be large. The smaller, the finer, …stickbaer-vintage-crossstitchbags-tati-4

You can close the bags with a ribbon or a cord.stickbaer-vintage-crossstitchbags-tati-5

I did the cross stitches with cotton thread. This does not have to be embroidery thread, sewing thread works well.stickbaer-vintage-crossstitchbags-tati-6

The stitches a looking like they were handmade!!!stickbaer-vintage-crossstitchbags-tati-7

Not only the present is a gift, the wrapping is it as well.stickbaer-vintage-crossstitchbags-tati-8

and the bags can be reused many times.stickbaer-vintage-crossstitchbags-tati-9

Our latest embroidery file with 7 different ITH bags is available today in our Stickbaer Shop.nl-vintage-crossstitch-bags

Did I mention that it takes not much time to make them?

Of course you get a detailled instruction.

Enjoy your weekend, we will have an extended due to a holiday next week.

A lot of time for embroidery 🙂

This Years Christmas Stocking

It already became a tradition that we in the time before christmas present a new Christmas Stocking  that you can embroider in your embroidery machine.

Back in 2010 we startet our series of ITH stockings that are completely done in your embroidery machine.

Here are some examples, like this 2013 stocking, a modern, stylish version:

stiefel-2012

The 2013 stocking had a little bird with a winter cap.

weihnachtsstiefel-2013-news

In 2014 another bird, no without the cap.

weihnachtsstiefel-2014-nl

Last year, 2015, saw the stockings with Christmas baubles.

This year we present a deer to you:

nl-weihnachtsstiefel-2016

He comes with a curly deer head. To this you can attach ribbons or bells.

Even when the whole stocking is made from wool felt: the front side applique’d with great fabrics. This method combines the stable stand of wool felt with great colored fabrics. Each stocking can look different.

stickbaer-weihnachtsstiefel-2016-tati-3

We offer you different hoop sizes, from 13x18cm to 20x36cm. Sure your size is there.stickbaer-weihnachtsstiefel-2016-tati-4
stickbaer-weihnachtsstiefel-2016-tati-8

You can stuff a lot into the large stocking:

stickbaer-weihnachtsstiefel-2016-tati-5

But even the mid sizes can hold St. Nikolaus presents.

The small stocking could be used for an Advent calendar, maybe for the St. Nikolaus day?

Shoe fun

I like shoes. Although my taste is different from my mates, nevertheless I like shoes!

I like most high quality shoes with soft leather that last many years. And they should have colored insoles!

Sometimes you get some with your new shoes, but usually they are really boring.

That’s why I am doing my insoles now myself.

img_3234

They now perfectly match my shoes and are in the correct size.stickbaer-sohlenspass-tati-1

It is so easy …stickbaer-sohlenspass-tati-4

… that I have a big choice now:

stickbaer-sohlenspass-tati-6

Sure you found this embroidery file already in our shop. This is for most of the women sizes, each in 3 different designs, of course for left and right feet.

nl-sohlenspass-fuer-ladies

What I have today is “Happy Feet for Kids”.

Mom has it, so why not her daughter?

nl-sohlenspass-fuer-kids

That’s why we added colorful insoles in sizes from 28, in 3 designs, for left and right feet.

All in all 48 files in one collection.

This makes kid’s shoes more colorful and even wearing slippers at home is OK now.

stickbaer-sohlenspass-kids-tati-2

The finishing touch for cool boots!
stickbaer-sohlenspass-kids-tati-3

And in gloomy autumn the insight of the kids is colorful.stickbaer-sohlenspass-kids-tati-5

It takes no time to embroider the insoles. Even without the attached instruction.stickbaer-sohlenspass-kids-tati-9

You only need the 16x26cm hoop to start.stickbaer-sohlenspass-kids-tati-10

Liquid Latex rubber stops the sliding of the insole.

stickbaer-sohlenspass-tati-7

One or two layers of the milky liquid, give it time to dry. Now you have rubberized insoles.

stickbaer-sohlenspass-tati-8

The embroidery file “Happy Feet for Kids” you can get from today in our Stickbaer Shop.

Enjoy the weekend.

Crochet Bags

Do you have a favourite hand crafting for the different times in the year?

I am crocheting and knitting only when it is warm, means in summer. Sounds strange? I simply need the bright sunlight and love it to do the work outside on the terace.

In winter I do not feel like doing knitting or crocheting. So when there are unfinished projects in autumn, they stay til next summer.

Thus sayed, here is my next embroidery file, in July.

The 5 different in size bags will be crocheted after embroidery with a small edge. The bag is completely done in the embroidery machine including the crochet support seam. The only thing left to do is to take the crochet needle and do a crochet edge according to our instruction.

And this is done in a little time only, so this project will be finished til autumn.NL-Crochet-Bags

We have a file for each hoop size, starting at 10x10cm up to the 20x30cm hoop.Stickbaer-Crochetbags-Tati-1

The bigger bags can be used for cosmetics.Stickbaer-Crochetbags-Tati-3

The one for the 13x18cm hoop is perfect to hide the lipstick, powder box and co. The 10x10cm size still keeps a lipstick or the bus ticket.Stickbaer-Crochetbags-Tati-4And all they are so cute. Stickbaer-Crochetbags-Tati-5

Each of the embroidery motifs differ a little bit.Stickbaer-Crochetbags-Tati-6

You can get each size separately or opt for a discount package.Stickbaer-Crochetbags-Tati-8

And since we have perfect crocheting weather (sun, bright, warm) this is the perfect July file 🙂

Get your choice today in our Stickbaer Shop.

Enjoy your weekend.

Quilting fabric in the Embroidery Machine

The idea for this new embroidery file I got from one of my longtime testers, Cornelia of Zwergenwelt.

Cornelia desired a quilted fabric, to be more clear, an embroidery file to create own fabric with different patterns in different sizes. It sounded an interesting idea and today I am sharing with you the result of my work.

The embroidery machine is doing the quilting work: With the file “Quilted Fabrics” you can quilt squares, rectangles, circles, ovals and hexagons in perfect patterns.

Go and clamp your batting and create your own quilt fabric.

And to make it not easy for you you can chose from 4 different sizes.
NL-Quilted-Fabric

The quilted fabrics you create can be used for a lot of things.

I did 2 cosmetic bags from it.

When you like them, here is the instruction:

Stickbaer-Quilted-Fabric-Tati-2

First the half-round bag:

First embroider the file with the circle. I used soft stabilizer. This stays with the fabric.

Atop the stabilizer I put a 5mm batting and on top of this comes the rose fabric. Alltogether is clamped to the hoop and the embroidery machine does it’s work.

After embroidering the circle is cut out with 5mm seam allowance.

IMG_2543

Take the divisible zipper and divide it. It has to be 12cm longer then the circle circumfence.

Put it to the edge, teeth down to the inside. Quilt it with the zipper foot.IMG_2544Looks like this:
IMG_2545

Cut a circle from lining in the same size as your quilted circle.IMG_2547

Place the lining right to right on the circle with the zipper, to loose ends of the zipper to the inside.

Fixate it with pins or wonderclips.IMG_2548

Sew from the backside (the quilted one) directly onto the previousely sewed seam.

Leave a 6cm turn opening.IMG_2549

Turn your project and get the zipper ends. Close the opening.

Now the challenge is to join the zipper.IMG_2550This is how it looks now.

The zipper is now looking to the lining side.IMG_2551

To bind the loose zipper end cut out a 3x8cm piece of fabric and iron the edges.

IMG_2552

Fold the fabric right to right and sew the open left and right sides. Turn, iron and move it to the zipper end.

Secure all with a seam.IMG_2553Does you project look like the pic below?IMG_2554

Now put over the bag (the zipper moves inside), and you are done.IMG_2556

Do a little embellishment on the zipper.
Stickbaer-Quilted-Fabric-Tati-1

The other bag I did from 2 quilted rectangles. I used the 20x30cm file, but the 13x18cm file and the other sizes will work as well.

Stickbaer-Quilted-Fabric-Tati-9

First do the rectangles. With the rectangle as template cut 2 pieces lining.

The zipper has to be 10cm longer then the longer side of the rectangle.IMG_2558

Divide the zipper, put it with teeth down onto the quilted fabric.

On top comes now the lining.IMG_2559

Sew all 3 pieces together, try to be as close as possible at the teeth.
IMG_2560

Open, and iron
IMG_2561

Place the zipper…
IMG_2563 … and close it for 1/3.IMG_2564

Now again open your pieces and put it together, that the quilted fabrics and the linings are one above the other.

Fixate all.IMG_2565

Do one seam around, leave an 8cm opening.IMG_2566

Pull the bag, do not yet turn.

All 4 corners will be quilted. Do a line in 2cm from the corner and quilt the corner.IMG_2567

Cut the remainder.

Do this with the upper fabric and the lining corners.IMG_2568

Now it is time for turning.

Close the turning, do some embellishment work.

And here we have 2 perfectly quilted bags. Great!Stickbaer-Quilted-Fabric-Tati-12

Of course you can do some embroidery with one of our embroidery motifs.Stickbaer-Quilted-Fabric-Tati-6This is our “Rose et Lavande”.Stickbaer-Quilted-Fabric-Tati-7 Stickbaer-Quilted-Fabric-Tati-10

Let me know about your projects.

Thanks again, Cornelia for this idea.

You can get the new file today in our Stickbaer Shop.Stickbaer-Quilted-Fabric-Tati-11Have a great weekend.

Roses and Lavender ITH

Since you loved our Lavender and Roses files “Rose et Lavande” and “Lavendelsäckchen” so much here is a last one with these romantic motifs.

NL-Rose-et-Lavande-ITH

We love in-the -hoop, it is so easy to create perfect results.

And as we love crocheting as we love embroidery and ITH we now joined both crafting methods.

Not sure you remember our Häkeltaschen that already has a crocheting edge embroidered on to attach the crochet edge.

Now we have mugrugs, hearts and little pillows that you can crochet on.

Stickbaer-Rose-et-Lavande-ITH-Tati-7

During the embroidery an additional seam is embroidered. To this you can later attach your crocheted border.Stickbaer-Rose-et-Lavande-ITH-Tati-8

This you create overwhelming pillows and mugrugs.Rose-et-Lavande-ITH-Tati-5

I filled the hearts with lavender. They are so romantic. I hang them into the wardrobe.Stickbaer-Rose-et-Lavande-ITH-Tati-1

The square pillows could be used as pillow for dolls, pin cushion or filled with lavender too.

Or leave them without filling and you get a coaster.
Stickbaer-Rose-et-Lavande-ITH-Tati-5The mugrugs can be stuffed with polyfill. This makes little oval of them.

As mugrugs they are the center point of your comfortable tea time. Or coffee time.

Rose-et-Lavande-ITH-Tati-7

The crochet around is done easy. Nevertheless I added a detailed embroidery and crocheting instruction, explaining each step.

Our embroidery file “Rose et Lavande ITH” matches the 13x18cm hoop. You can get it from today in our Stickbaer Shop.

Have fun with embroidery and crocheting. You can do this while watching a match of your favourite football team at the European Championship.

Ein schönes Wochenende und liebe Grüße

Lavender Bags

http://www.stickbaer.de/en/New/Lavender-Bags.htmlAs you can see I am still envolved in the “Provence” story. It was really great. And now, lavander is in full bloom.

How much I would love to return there to South France.

And because my feeling is such, but I have to stay in rainy Bavaria, I created suitable embroidery files 😉NL-Lavendelsaeckchen-ITH

Our Lavender bag is completely done in your embroidery machine. The only thing left is to close the small turn opening. But even this can be left undone because this opening is hidden inside the bag. And when filled with lavender seed it is hidden at all.

I am closing such openings with textile glue. Usually this looks better then a handmade seam.

Stickbaer-Lavendelsaeckchen-Tati-2

There are 5 different bags in the collection, no seams are visible.Stickbaer-Lavendelsaeckchen-Tati-3

I have cutted old white linen into pieces.

This fabric perfectly matches the embroidery motifs and the colors and the shades especially of the roses.Stickbaer-Lavendelsaeckchen-Tati-4

Fell free to fill the bags with other stuff then Lavender.

Maybe a (selfmade) piece of soap? This is a nice gift!Stickbaer-Lavendelsaeckchen-Tati-5

Or you fill in a roses potpourri …Stickbaer-Lavendelsaeckchen-Tati-6Or another little gift?
Stickbaer-Lavendelsaeckchen-Tati-7

I filled Lavender to all my bags and distributed them all over our house. When passing by I cuddle them and the air fills with lavender scent.

The smell of holidays …Stickbaer-Lavendelsaeckchen-Tati-8

You can get our latest embroidery file from today in our Stickbaer Shop.

Enjoy it, and enjoy the weekend.
